Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

Look, Sunny is sharing a book tag. When did she post a book tag? A very long time, if I do say myself. To the original owner: TheBookArcher You’re welcome!!!

Let’s begin:

Question 1: A popular book or series that you didn’t like.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Cath can be relatable but at times, I really wanted her to shut up.  The first part of the book has excessive swearing. The second part of the book is not for discussion.

Question 2: A popular book or series that everyone else seems to hate but you love.

The Giver Series. I don’t understand why they dislike maybe because the story lacks something but I don’t see it.

Question 3: A Love Triangle where the main character ended up with the person you did NOT want them to end up with

Question 4: A popular book genre that you hardly reach for.

Straight up Romance, Thrillers, Science Fiction

Question 5: A popular or beloved character that you do not like.

Tris by Divergent by Veronica Roth. Albus from The Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter, Katniss,

Question 6: A popular author that you can’t seem to get into.

Sarah J Mass… no comment.

Question 7: A popular book trope that you’re tired of seeing.

The Chosen One and Love Triangle Everyone writes about the chosen one.. Harry Potter, Katniss. Then the love triangle: Gale,Peeta, and Katniss ;America, Aspen, and Maxon It gets tiring really fast.

Question 8: A popular series that you have no interest in reading.

Throne of Glass, Mortal Instruments, Twilight, Game of Thrones

Question 9: The saying goes “The book is always better than the movie”, but what movie or T.V. show adaptation do you prefer more than the book?

Ahhhhhh… *minds goes completely blank

For those who loved reading this, you are officially tagged.

Thanks for reading!!!!

New Beginnings

Hello, owlnerds. I have decided to change the focus of this blog. I know. I know. I have been down in my game recently. I have been writing posts on poetry and such but don’t worry the change will boost my influence in my blog. and I will post once a week possibly twice a week.

For so long, I thought I could manage a book blog but recently I have been uninspired. So my blog will be dedicated to health, beauty, fashion, and books. My blog will always be a home for books but will not be a prime focus

And if you saw already, my new motto is “One step in the soul and one step out of the body.” The meaning behind is that I am focusing on myself and careless of the body. I am healing in a mental/spiritual journey. For the longest time, I thought of the negative thoughts but now I am looking for happier thoughts. Learning to love myself. The flesh is a dark place, so not allowing the body to take over me. To use my soul to guide me through God’s Word.

New Blog Schedule: Mondays and sometimes Fridays

To new beginnings. Thanks for reading!!!

One of the rawest things I will ever publish

This collection of works, I plan on publishing mid September. The truest and rawest things I have ever written. Poems that showcase my struggles through the years, the loss of a childhood friend , and a family member. A best friend to friend and now to acquaintance. My feelings of breaking free from a crush. Liking someone who I will have to avoid even more since I did send this collection of works to him. Because for some reason, I was brave enough to do that. Now wishing I should go back in time and reverse everything. Yeah, now to wait for his reply. The worst moments for the rest of my life.

(If you are reading this, and you know who I am talking about it and if this thing I wrote for is real. And my feelings are real. And now I am currently hate myself. And if this things blooms into something more. I was the first to tell my feelings and not you. Yeah.. email or text me instead of talking to me because I will probably avoid you for the rest of my life. And no, I don’t hate you. I am afraid of embarrassing myself and looking like a complete idiot.

Poetry is probably the only time, you will see me be true of myself. To express my feelings to the public. A creative output that allows me go free verse. I am not afraid of what others think of my poetry. Its free and its my own. Be grateful, I don’t have a good voice because I could be singing my feelings. That pro in all of this.

Just wanted to tell you something about this collection of works. New post coming this Saturday.

Genre: Classics Book Marathon

And we are back!!!

As seen from the title, I am going on a classic book reading marathon. I have thirty something books minus Agatha Christie books, I have on my shelf. I am slightly those types of books. And here me, telling you what I define a classic book to be.

A classic book defined for me would a book written in the ancient times until 1980s. Sorry Harry Potter, you are not a classic in my books. Bye.. 🙂

I began to be obsessed with book genre of classics after taking Literature in High School. Thank Mrs. Bailey. Thank you.

There are rules, I plan on keeping while doing reading:

I am not allowed to quit reading a book. I must finish it fully. I can’t quit even if the story is slow, full of language and romance.

I have to rate the story and review it even if its just a sentence or two.

Here are all the books minus Agatha Christie, I plan on reading. There is no order in which I am reading them.

Book review: Libby’s Cuppa Joe *Spoilers included*

Welcome back!

*DISCLAIMER: I was give a free copy from  Ambassador International Blogger Review Team for a honest review* (There is spoilers)

Title: Libby’s Cuppa Joe

Genre: Christian Contemporary

Romance: unmarried sex resulting a pregnancy

Language: some mentions

Dislikes:

A criminal becoming a pastor. Sure its possible but I see this too often.

A new pastor comes to town and falls in love with the main character and confesses his feelings after she returns to faith and then they is no mention of her answer and it goes straight to her wedding with him. It makes sense but maybe its just me.

Damon, but everyone hates him.

Sonja is a bit rude, whiny, but what did I expect from a city girl thinking she can run a business.

The story itself is slow paced. I picked to read this book because I was drawn by the synopsis and the mention of the coffee shop.

Thanks for reading! Make sure to you like this post, comment what book I should review next. If your author, I will be honored to read your book. Also make sure to follow my blog to be the first ones to see my newest posts.

44066702
Talfia Cricket, she is bad ass. She fights a evil spirits and saves the world.

HULK: A BOOK THAT MADE YOU INCREDIBLY ANGRY

28374370
This book made me so angry. Its a retelling of Romeo and Juliet. I enjoyed it until they added a scene that had no purpose at all. It was off detail sex scene. What why? If it wasn’t in the story, I would been greatly pleased but no. That had to ruin everything. 😦

HAWKEYE: AN UNDERRATED BOOK YOU THINK MORE PEOPLE SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO

69477

This book gave me the shivers. I am surprised, shocked by the plot twist. Its disturbing. It reminds me a lot of
The Eligible Bachelor (Sherlock Holmes).

The Selection Series Review

Welcome back, owlnerds. Another book series done!! I started this series in May of 2017 and finally finished it March of 2019.

The Selection series by Kiera Cass is about a girl named America Singer who gets selected to be part of a selection. A selection is 35 girls from each caste is entered into a competition to win the prince’s hand in marriage.

Book 1: The Selection

Rating: Five Stars

Review:
This book cracked me up. The plot line is hilarious because when you sent girls to compete against anything really. Things can get pretty interesting. Maxon and America can relate so much to people I know in real life. When America talks with Maxon, I can see myself reacting the same ways she does to him. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Book 2: The Elite

Rating: Four Stars

Review: N/A I am honestly confused because I can’t find my review anywhere. 😦

Book 3

Rating: Three Stars

Review: N/A
Same thing!! I am honestly confused because I can’t find my review anywhere. 😦

Book 4: The Heir

Rating: 3.9

Review: My rating is a 3.9. I actually like this book more the original series. The romance and connection Eadlyn and Kile is basically copy of Aspen and America and hate that. Why? I just don’t understand it. Still waiting for more Hale scenes, just saying.

Also it’s no surprise that destroying the caste would make a worst problem than having castes. Maybe the ending was bit overwhelming of course, it’s no surprise since the Elite’s ending was too far fetch as well. I will probably read The Crown so that go an overall book series.

Book 5: The Crown

Rating: 3.9

Review: Another 3.9 stars. I was going to give this book a full four stars but honestly the first plot twist caught me off guard and really feel like was forced or the author just did it to please her fans. Why? I don’t understand.

Overall rating of the series: 3.9

Review:

Lets begin. I loved the first book. A dystopian young adult that isn’t the Hunger Games, point taken. The characters related to people, I know in real life. Then as the book went down the liking of the series went down slowly. The “love triangle” between Maxon and Aspen was a bit much. America indecisive for both of them. Then the last two books are about America’s oldest daughter. I actually enjoyed this books more the original series minus the sodomite couple in the last book. I don’t know if this is true or not but it felt thought the author was pressured into represent the sodomite community. Either way, the couple didn’t have purpose at all really. The choose that Eadyln picked makes no sense. She doesn’t really she has feeling for him until the last three chapters of the book. She is so focused on Kile who basically another Aspen that she is clueless of who to choose. I am like what? I really feel like the book was rushed. This is my opinion would not consider this book series clean. Its clean that most books today. In the romance, they are mentions of kissing on lips, cheek, and hands. There is some scenes that possible making out but that in no detail. I actually not sure what the scenes were fully about, but I would lean in that direction. There is some mention of cursing. Overall the series was alright, not my favorite. Recommended for 15+.

🙂 Thanks for reading!!

Blood Moon Redemption Book review

Disclaimers: I relieved a free copy from Ambassador International. This is my honest opinion, I am not giving paid to give a lying book review*

This is the first book, I am reviewing with Ambassador International. When they gave me a choice of several books. I knew I wanted to get this book. The only Jewish culture I ever read was in the Bible and I was greatly intrigued when I saw blood moons and legend of the tassel. It was mysterious and love that I was going get this book.

The genre of this book: thriller/mystery thriller, (So this actually first book I read in this genre which is really crazy), fantasy/supernatural, contemporary, Christian fiction

The romance in this book was not bad minus the facts mentioning of staying the night with a man who is not married to each other.

Likes: I liked how each chapter, let you know at the head of time where the scene is taking place. You will understand when you read it. There is a scene when a waitress asks if they know Jesus. The main character is Jewish and her “friend” is Muslim. Its reaction is hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing. I loved how the author gave out the backstory of the tassel with ruining the story itself.

Dislikes: I hated Omar. He was {spoilers removed}. Bad. I really wanted to choke him and smack Tassie in the face several times but she was {spoilers removed.
Although the book is fantasy/supernatural. I didn’t like Hector since he was a {spoiler removed}. I really didn’t like the scene where Omar sees{spoiler removed}. Hmm. No.
One more thing, I didn’t understand something. The story is complete. The synopsis is answered but some reason they are almost like four chapters left. I understand you want readers to understand what is happening to the characters. It felt weird but maybe it fits.

Rating: 4/5, 7/10

The Forbidden Wish: Book Review

Title: The Forbidden Wish

Genre: Fantasy, Retelling, Young Adult

Author: Jessica Khoury

Language: mention of cursing

Romance: kissing of the neck, kissing of lips, forced kiss

Things I disliked:

It states “perfect lips”. What is that?

It’s mentioned that the main character has two days to get her freedom but two days past and you think she would lose her freedom. Right? I am really confused.

I don’t if it is just me but the ending felt rushed. Or if they was too much background in it that I got lost in the climax.

So this book was a retelling of Aladdin and so there is a typical Disney ending. With flowers in the air. Not a fan. Disney lover will love it. Not a fan of it.

Things I liked:

So I was interested in this book because of the cover and retelling of Aladdin. I liked how the author kept the original setting. I liked how the POV was not based around Aladdin which was a plus.

Rating: 3.7 stars
